Ms. Cherry completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Human Services at Old Dominion University in 2019. She also completed her Masters of Education in School Counseling at The College of William and Mary in 2023. She is from Henrico, VA and attended Henrico County Public Schools. She is a mother of twin boys and in her spare time enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and reading.

North Elementary School’s counseling program will provide proactive, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate services to address the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students. We are committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. Through individual and group counseling, classroom guidance lessons, and collaboration with families and staff, we strive to promote positive mental health, resilience, and social-emotional learning skills. Our mission is to empower students to overcome obstacles, build healthy relationships, and achieve academic success, preparing them to become responsible and compassionate members of their school community and beyond.

What is a School Counselor?
School counselors are certified/licensed educators who improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. They lead, advocate and collaborate to promote equity and access for all students by connecting their school counseling program to the school’s academic mission and school improvement plan.
Services provided: Apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills, and plan for postsecondary options. Individual counseling, group counseling, coping strategies, and advocacy.

I am dedicated to understanding the unique needs and strengths of each child. My focus is on building meaningful relationships with students and staff, getting to know the school community, and fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
